National Focal Points' Meeting 2023
National Focal Points (NFPs) of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program met virtually on 18 October to discuss the deliverables for and structure of the 22nd CAREC Ministerial Conference on 30 November in Tbilisi, Georgia. The NFPs reviewed the proposed CAREC Climate Change Vision and the Concept for the proposed Climate and Sustainability Project Preparatory Fund, which will support energy transition and decarbonization and regional investment projects that align with CAREC countries’ commitments under the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals. The meeting also discussed the other deliverables: the CAREC Energy Investment Forum, Study on Reoriented Trade Flows Amid External Shocks and Alternate Transit and Transport Routes in the CAREC Region, and the VisitSilkRoad Tourism Portal. Georgia’s Deputy Minister Irakli Nadareishvili, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, delivered opening remarks, while EARD DG M. Teresa Kho and CWRD DDG Xiaohong Yang moderated the sessions.
