CAREC Energy Sector Coordinating Committee Training on Forecasting with Argonne National Laboratory
Asian Development Bank (ADB) Central and West Asia’s Energy Division hosted a 3-day workshop for CAREC delegates in cooperation with USA Argonne National Laboratory. This training event aimed to support development of enhanced local capabilities for conducting energy system planning.
The workshop featured topical lectures by experts on sustainable energy development and practical guidance on use of the Model for Energy Supply System Alternatives and their General Environmental impacts (MESSAGE) to evaluate energy-economic-environmental factors associated with alternative scenarios of energy sector development.
As a culminating activity, each country presented their output and plans to the participants, receiving feedback from other countries on how future policies may be shaped in the region. Delegates received their certificates of training from ADB’s Principal Energy Specialist Sohail Hasnie and Argonne’s Chief Operating Officer Balendra Sutharshan.
