International Energy Agency Caspian Energy Policy Dialogue and Training

The event engaged Caspian countries in discussing perspectives on energy technology, delivering energy-training modules, and sharing best practices in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

The 3-day event tackled the following topics, identified as priorities in the Strategy for Regional Cooperation in the Energy Sector of CAREC Countries and which appear in the 2012 CAREC Institute Training Program:

  • High-Level Energy Policy Dialogue,
  • Training on Energy Efficiency and Policy Measures, and
  • Training Module on Renewable Energy Technology Policies and Planning.

Supported by the CAREC Institute, CAREC energy sector focal points and alternates attended the event. Participants also came from public and private sectors of Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, People’s Republic of China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.

The event was organized by the International Energy Agency, in cooperation with the government of Kazakhstan with financial support from the CAREC Institute, the European Commission, and the United States Agency for International Development.
