Supporting Industrial Park Development in the CAREC Region

This technical assistance aims to improve the policy framework for planning, developing, and upgrading industrial parks in CAREC countries, and thereby increase the region's industrial productivity and competitiveness.

This regional policy and advisory technical assistance is designed to support implementation of the refined Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy 2020.

The project will help facilitate direct and efficient operation of both freight and passenger train services and thereby promote economic and social development of the Fergana Valley.

Transport Sector Master Plan Update

This technical assistance project will contribute to an increase in trade between Afghanistan and neighboring countries of 100% over the period 2012-2020.

Europe and the CIS Sustainable Energy for All (SE4ALL) initiative

The regional initiative covers Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan as CAREC countries. The program is to support countries and provide policy and advisory technical assistance as well as research and development assistance.

Aligning Customs Trade Facilitation Measures with Best Practices in CAREC

The technical assistance will promote a concerted approach to customs reforms in CAREC countries by applying international best practices.

Coordinated Border Management for Results in CAREC

The technical assistance will support time release study analyses at border crossing points to establish the causes of cross-border delays related to border control and clearance procedures.

Facilitation of Regional Transit Trade in CAREC

The technical assistance will identify options for the establishment of an effective and affordable customs transit regime for the CAREC transport and trade corridors.

Energy Development 2014–2023

The project preparatory technical assistance (PPTA) will conduct due diligence for an ensuing ADB project aimed to increase electricity supply and access to electricity and increase gas supply for electricity production and industrial uses.

Addendum to the Afghanistan Power Sector Master Plan

The technical assistance supported Afghanistan in preparing its Power Sector Master Plan.

Toktogul Rehabilitation Project Phase 2

The technical assistance will conduct detailed due diligence for both Phases 2 and 3 of the Toktogul hydroelectric power plant (HPP) Rehabilitation Project.

Regional Improving Border Services Project

The project will modernize infrastructure of a selected border-crossing point (either Torkham at the Afghanistan border or Wagha at the Indian border) to meet the demand for quality border-crossing services.

Aid for Trade for Central Asia

Through the Aid for Trade project, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) works with governments in Central Asia to develop better policies that in turn help the private sector create jobs, so that people can better support themselves. The project covers three countries in Central Asia: the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Promoting Cooperation in Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures for CAREC

This technical assistance will support the implementation of a dedicated sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures program for CAREC to help expand trade and enhance the competitiveness of growers and producers of goods and commodities subject to SPS measures.

Preparing the CAREC Corridors 3 and 5 Enhancement Project

The government of Tajikistan has requested ADB assistance for the CAREC Corridors 3 and 5 enhancement project, which is important for national road network connectivity, particularly in the Khatlon province, and for the socio-economic development of the country.

Strengthening Tajikistan’s Trade and Investment Regime

The technical assistance will support the Tajikistan government in the conduct of three key activities: (i) an international trade and investment conference to show that Tajikistan is Open for Business; (ii) policy research and analysis on organizational reform of the Standards Agency (Tajikstandart); and (iii) capacity building on policy and regulatory reforms to effect organizational change and tackle technical barriers to trade.

Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS and Other Communicable Diseases in CAREC Countries

The technical assistance aimed to contribute to regional health security by strengthening implementation of the International Health Regulations in Central Asia and support the implementation of the European HIV/AIDS Action Plan.

Modernization of Customs Services in Azerbaijan

The project supports the modernization of the customs service in Azerbaijan through infrastructure development, automation of the processes, and personnel training.

Energy Sector Dialogue
