CAREC Corridor 3 to receive $125 million ADB loan
The Asian Development Bank approved a $125 million loan to fund rehabilitation of a 37-kilometer road section of CAREC Corridor 3 in Kazakhstan. The road will connect Shymkent, Kazakhstan's industrial city, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan's city capital. Read more.
Kazakhstan, World Bank sign CAREC Corridor 1b road loan agreement
The Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Bank signed a $1.06 billion loan agreement on the East-West Roads Project in October 2012. An upgraded road will accelerate trade flows between Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China. Read more.
CAREC transport and trade facilitation strategy to undergo midterm review
The Asian Development Bank approved a technical assistance grant to conduct a midterm review of the CAREC Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy. Read more.


Tajikistan becomes WTO member
The World Trade Organization (WTO) officially admitted the Republic of Tajikistan as its 159th member. Tajikistan is the fifth CAREC country to accede to the WTO. Read more.

Improved trade expected following the official opening of two roads in Kyrgyz Republic
Kyrgyz Republic Prime Minister joined the official opening of the Osh–Sary-Tash–Irkeshtam and Sary-Tash–Karamyk roads. These roads will help improve trade with neighboring countries. Read more.

CAREC freight forwarders and carriers hold third annual meeting
The CAREC Federation of Carrier and Forwarder Associations (CFCFA) held its third Annual Meeting in Bangkok. Member associations planned its activities under the CAREC integrated trade facilitation agenda. Read more.

TRANSPORT: CAREC Corridor 3 (Shymkent-Tashkent Section) Road Improvement Project (Kazakhstan / ADB)
The project will improve efficiency of transport networks in the South Kazakhstan region. It will also contribute to closer regional cooperation and increased trade along CAREC Corridor 3.
