Kazakhstan receives $1,068 million loan for CAREC Corridor 1b
Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Corridor 1b, also called the Western Europe–Western [People's Republic of] China Corridor, will be further improved by the East–West Roads Project. The World Bank will provide a $1,068 million loan for the project and the Government of Kazakhstan will contribute $188 million. Read more.
CAREC Corridor 3 benefits from an EBRD loan
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) approved a $35 million loan for the Dushanbe–Uzbekistan Border Road Improvement Project. A 4.6-kilometer road within Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Corridor 3 will be upgraded. Read more.
ADB approves $100 million loan for CAREC Corridor 2 project
The Asian Development Bank approved a $100 million loan, the last tranche of the multitranche financing facility for CAREC Corridor 2 Road Investment Program. Project 3 is a continuation of the rehabilitation of the A380 highway. Read more.

  • a searchable studies and training database with links to original documents
  • a searchable events database providing links to papers and presentations from each event
  • country pages for each CAREC country with links to CAREC projects, contacts, country-specific features, national strategies, and other key documents in the CAREC priority sectors

CAREC is a partnership of 10 countries working together - Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, the People's Republic of China, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan – and supported by 6 multilateral institutions - Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Monetary Fund, Islamic Development Bank, United Nations Development Programme, and World Bank - to create economic growth and improve the quality of life for all people of the CAREC region.
