CAREC Corridor Performance Measurement and Monitoring Annual Report 2017

Using data gathered from real-time road and rail cargo shipments, the corridor performance measurement and monitoring (CPMM) mechanism monitors and assesses the efficiency of the six CAREC transport corridors that link the 11 CAREC country members—Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, the People’s Republic of China, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. It shows where shipments are moving faster along the corridors and helping business do better, while also pinpointing where delays and blockages are hindering rapid and cost-effective trade

CAREC Corridor Performance Measurement and Monitoring Annual Report 2016

Since 2009, CAREC Corridor Performance Measurement and Monitoring (CPMM) captures trade facilitation indicators to assess the efficiency of transport and border-crossing points across CAREC corridors. Based on trip samples submitted by participating carrier and forwarder associations from CAREC countries, CPMM analyzes the relative performance of each CAREC corridor using time/cost-distance methodology and identifies the bottlenecks and constraints in the movement of goods across the region. In 2016, customs clearance and loading/unloading fees remain costly for trucks as transloading, customs, and commercial inspections for trains. Declining fuel prices, prompted a price competition between transport operators resulting in lower transport costs.
