The project will finance construction of new motorway between Jalilabad and Shorsulu and provide capacity development. Tranche 2 aims to develop Jalilabad to Shorsulu motorway section and provide sector capacity development.

The project will reconstruct four bridges and rehabilitate 30 kilometers of local roads in the Ganja-Qazax region. All four bridges are in a very poor, nearly no longer maintainable condition.

The project supports the modernization of the customs service in Azerbaijan through infrastructure development, automation of the processes, and personnel training.

Integrating Climate Change Risks into Water and Flood Management by Vulnerable Mountainous Communities in the Greater Caucasus Region

This project aims to reduce vulnerability of the mountain communities of the Greater Caucasus region of Azerbaijan to climate change-induced water stress and flood hazards by improving water and flood management.

Road Network Development Program, Tranche 3

Under the third tranche of the multitranche financing facility, the project will build two sections of the four-lane expressway between Masalli and Astara on the southern corridor. It will also rehabilitate access roads.

Road Reconstruction and Upgrading Project

The project was originally approved in 2011 and provided a loan to the Republic of Azerbaijan for upgrading of sections of roads by the Azeri Roads Service (now renamed Azeravtoyol). Disbursement of the funds is allocated in tranches, which nvolved resurfacing and upgrading of existing two lane corridors in largely rural areas. The total length of these roads is around 130 kilometers and the project involves upgrading an existing two lane single carriageway road to a dual two-lane carriageway standard.

The project will contribute to a more efficient and safer Baku–Shamakhi road and higher quality road services as part of the upgrading to motorway standards, and to improve the management of the nascent motorway network.
