ADB supports CAREC countries in advancing the Caspian Green Energy Corridor Initiative

On 4 April 2025 in Baku, Azerbaijan, the Ministers of Energy of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ADB and AIIB to support the preparation of a Feasibility Study for the Caspian Green Energy Corridor Project. This high-level framework aims to develop institutional and legal structures to facilitate cross-border electricity trade from Central Asia and the South Caucasus to Europe via the Caspian Sea Underwater Cable and other routes, advancing regional energy cooperation across CAREC member countries. The signing of the MOU was followed by a technical Roundtable on this project on 5 April 2025, where Terms of Reference for the Feasibility Study and next steps for project implementation were discussed in detail.
