New CAREC Program Website Launched
Two years—and 38,000 hits—after its original launch, the new CAREC Program website was announced at the Senior Officials’ Meeting on 22 November 2011, a day before the 10th Ministerial Conference on Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC). The CAREC web development team has redesigned the original web portal (www.carecinstitute.org) in response to specific requests and preferences of the CAREC partners. A series of measures have been implemented to improve the scope, flexibility, and user-friendliness of the CAREC website, including
- expansion of the original CAREC Institute web portal to a comprehensive website focusing on the full spectrum of CAREC Program work and activities —www.carecprogram.org;
- regrouping of relevant information and materials for each sector in a series of interlinked pages that build a fully searchable and expandable sector data repository;
- updating and streamlining of design and layout for easier navigation;
- engagement of a dedicated Russian-language IT assistant to bring the Russian mirror site up-to-date and ensure faster translation and posting of materials going forward; and
- migration of the CAREC website to an independent external server that allows more interactivity and use of the latest formatting technologies.
