Joint CAREC Transport Sector Coordinating and Customs Cooperation Committees Meeting

Delegations from CAREC transport and trade facilitation sectors and multilateral development partners reviewed the draft Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy 2020, for endorsement at the 12th Ministerial Conference on CAREC.

The draft strategy proposes a more integrated approach encompassing transport, logistics, and trade and transport facilitation

It also pays more attention to operational and institutional effectiveness to improve road maintenance and road safety, institutional capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation of the refined results-based framework.

Kazakhstan’s Transport and Communications Vice Minister Azat Bekturov and Asian Development Bank Central and West Asia Department Director General Hong Wang co-chaired the meeting.
