10th CAREC Customs Cooperation Committee Meeting

The CAREC Customs Cooperation Committee (CCC) held its 10th Annual Meeting to update senior customs officials in the 10 participating countries on progress in the priority areas for customs cooperation and facilitate sharing of lessons learned in implementing projects.

Consultation Meeting with the CAREC National Focal Points (2011)

CAREC national focal points from all 10 countries met and discussed the 10th Ministerial Conference on CAREC preparations, the CAREC Institute work plan, and cross-border transport facilitation initiatives.

CAREC Training Workshop on Modernization of Customs Management

The training combined classroom lectures, case studies, and on-site learning. It also provided opportunities for cross-country experience sharing on these subjects.

Meeting on CAREC Cross-Border Transport Agreement Implementation Action Plan

Senior officials of the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan, together with representatives from Afghanistan and the Asian Development Bank will meet to finalize national action plans of the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan for the implementation of the Cross-Border Transport Agreement (CBTA).

CAREC Federation of Carrier and Forwarder Associations Meeting (August 2011)

Mongolian freight forwarders and road carriers attended the transport and logistics training to raise the level of professionalism, efficiency, and quality of CAREC road carriers, freight forwarders, and logistics companies through joint capacity building efforts.

The Regional Improvement of Border Services Project Project aims to accelerate the regional cooperation process by facilitating collaborative action through CAREC to remove barriers inhibiting regional travel and trade.

CAREC Senior Officials’ Meeting (June 2011)

Participants reviewed the proposed draft 10-year strategic framework for CAREC (CAREC 2020) and other planned 10-year commemorative activities, and discussed concept for a pilot study on the development of CAREC corridors to economic corridors.
