17th CAREC Ministerial Conference This year’s ministerial conference focused on expanding regional trade and promoting economic diversification. CAREC ministers unanimously endorsed the CAREC Integrated Trade Agenda (CITA) 2030 and its Rolling Strategic Action Plan (RSAP) 2018–2030.
Consultation Meeting with CAREC National Focal Points (2018) CAREC national focal points discussed the implementation progress of CAREC 2030, in preparation for the 17th Ministerial Conference on CAREC to be held in Ashgabat.
CAREC Senior Officials’ Meeting (June 2018) Senior government officials of the 11 CAREC countries and representatives of multilateral development partners reviewed the progress made to date on the implementation of the CAREC 2030 strategy.
Second Almaty–Bishkek Economic Corridor Subcommittee Meeting The meeting facilitated the discussions and agreements toward establishing modern agricultural wholesale markets, developing tourism clusters, and facilitating efficient border crossings in the Almaty-Bishkek Economic Corridor.
Publications Launch: Diagnostic Study and Strategic Framework for Free Economic Zones and Industrial Parks in the Kyrgyz Republic The CAREC team presented the project findings with proposed policy toolkits and specific recommendations to improve the performance of Kyrgyz Republic's free economic zones and industrial parks, as well as international best practice and other country cases.
Regional Workshop on Border Crossing for Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic within the Framework of the Almaty–Bishkek Economic Corridor The workshop concluded with a set of actions to facilitate improvement of border crossing points management, infrastructure, and transit experience for citizens and tourists between Almaty and Bishkek.
Workshop on CAREC 2030 Strategy Implementation About 50 participants from 17 line government agencies and development partners shared their views and initiatives on operationalizing the CAREC 2030 strategy and Pakistan’s possible role.
16th CAREC Ministerial Conference The ministerial conference, held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, was a cornerstone event for the CAREC Program as it involved endorsement by the ministers of a new CAREC strategy leading to 2030.
First Almaty–Bishkek Economic Corridor Subcommittee Meeting Concrete steps for the implementation of the economic corridor were agreed in a government protocol and reported to the Prime Minister’s Kazakhstan–Kyrgyz Republic Intergovernmental Council.
Consultation Meeting with the CAREC National Focal Points (2017) The meeting discussed the new CAREC long-term strategy; updates on sector deliverables; and preparations for the 16th CAREC Ministerial Conference to be held on 27 October in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
