18th CAREC Transport Sector Coordinating Committee Meeting
Background
The 11 CAREC member countries continue to implement the Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy 2020 (TTFS 2020) by prioritizing the completion of the six multimodal corridors and building capacity in the priority areas of railways, road asset management, road safety, cross-border transport facilitation, and aviation.
During the 17th CAREC Transport Sector Coordinating Committee (TSCC) Meeting held in Istanbul, Turkey on 18–20 April 2018, the CAREC member countries confirmed the need to prepare a new CAREC Transport Strategy 2030 to build on the progress achieved through TTFS 2020, deepen the work on all the transport subsectors, and align activities with the infrastructure agenda of the CAREC Strategy 2030.
Objectives
The 18th TSCC Meeting
- reviewed the implementation progress of the TTFS 2020 focusing on recent developments in railways, road asset management, road safety, cross-border transport facilitation, and aviation;
- reviewed the draft CAREC Transport Strategy 2030; and
- developed the action plan for the implementation of the CAREC Transport Strategy 2030.
