Revised Kyoto Convention: Sharing of Accession Experiences of CAREC Countries

Asian Development Bank, the World Customs Organization (WCO), and the PRC General Administration of Customs conducted a workshop at the Shanghai Customs College to share experiences on accession to the Revised Kyoto Convention (RKC) of CAREC countries.

The workshop helped participants develop an understanding of the requirements to comply with and accede to the RKC and learn about WCO self-assessments tools available to guide countries during the accession process.

The Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction, under its Trade Facilitation Mechanism, supported the workshop.

The RKC is an international agreement adopted by the World Customs Organization that serves as the basis for simplifying and harmonizing customs procedures, and for advocating best practice in customs administration.

The adoption and implementation of the RKC by CAREC member countries is expected to increase transparency and efficiency in customs administration, and will contribute to reducing transaction costs and enhancing trade security.
