National Workshop on Potential CAREC wide FTA for Georgia

Over 40 representatives of the Georgia government and business circles, civil society attended a first national workshop on CAREC-wide Free Trade Agreement (FTA). It was organized by ADB and Policy Management and Consulting Group, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia. The FTA national workshop aims to build national consensus in CAREC countries which have expressed the interest to pursue a CAREC-wide FTA; contribute to the awareness raising of the potential of the CAREC region, and potential effects and regional benefits of a CAREC-wide FTA to enhance; promote regional cooperation between the CAREC member countries; facilitate national public discussion on the CAREC FTA, with participation of the key national stakeholders. The workshop was facilitated by the experienced FTA experts and support from the Georgian government, represented by Deputy Minister Arveladze, a CAREC National Focal Point for Georgia.
