National Workshop on Authorized Economic Operators Program

The workshop aimed to improve the skills and capacity of the Azerbaijan customs office in its efforts to modernize its risk management system.

The Authorized Economic Operators (AEO) Program is supported by the Japan Fund for Poverty Reduction.

Experts from the World Customs Organization discussed in detail the SAFE Framework and the basic principles of the AEO Program—the tools and guidelines and how the program is implemented in the European Customs Union.

The last day was devoted to discussions on risk management techniques used by the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, analysis of the gaps between current practice and the SAFE standards, and formulation of next steps on how to adopt an AEO program.
