Third CAREC Ministerial Conference

The Third Ministerial Conference on Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) was convened in Astana, Kazakhstan on 31 October to 1 November 2004.

High-level government delegations representing the CAREC member countries—Azerbaijan, the People’s Republic of China, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan—attended the conference.

Representatives of multilateral institutions—Asian Development Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Monetary Fund, Islamic Development Bank, United Nations Development Programme, and World Bank—also attended. Representatives from neighboring countries and other multilateral and bilateral organizations participated as observers.
