34th Energy Sector Coordinating Committee Meeting
On 4 April, ADB and the CAREC Program, gathered delegates from 10 member countries and development partners virtually for CAREC’s 34th ESCC meeting. Government representatives shared progress in the energy sector over the last year, including new connectivity initiatives, major energy projects and new legislation. Dr. Khamidulla Shamsiev of Energiya Coordinating Dispatch Center (CDC), Tashkent discussed further regional integration within the Central Asian Power System. Martin Sommerseth Jaer from the Energy Sectors Group at ADB, and the leader for the CAREC Energy Program, presented upcoming events for 2024. This included a workshop on Transmission and Interconnectivity to be held in Tashkent in September, and a prospective Infrastructure Investment Forum in Almaty towards the end of the year. The meeting was chaired by Joonho Hwang, Director Energy Sectors Group at ADB.
