Uzbekistan Syrdarya Efficient Power Generation Project
Summary
The development objective of the Syrdarya Efficient Power Generation Project for Uzbekistan is to increase flexible and efficient electricity generation in line with a least-cost pathway to decarbonize power supply in Uzbekistan. The project component is construction and operation of a 1,573-MW combined-cycle gas-turbine (CCGT) power plant, and purchase by the sovereign off taker (NEGU) of electricity from the plant, supported by an International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) payment guarantee.
Expected Outcome
The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to support efficient electricity generation and reduce greenhouse gas emissions through p rivate investment in Uzbekistan.
