Transport Network Development Investment Program, Tranche 3

Summary

The third tranche of the program will rebuild 178 kilometers of a national road from Dar-i-Suf to Yakawlang, which will provide an alternative north–south transit route from from Mazar-e-Sharif to Kabul. It will also improve sanitation facilities and practices in Bamyan and Samangan provinces, which particularly benefit women and children.

Expected Outcome

The project will rehabilitate and reconstruct sections of national and regional highways, and will link roads already completed under the North–South Corridor project.

Expected Outputs

• 178 km (Dar-i-Suf to Yakawlang section of the North–South Corridor) of reconstructed, rehabilitated, and appropriately maintained national and regional highways.
• Community development infrastructure.
