Support for Urban Search/Rescue

Summary

UNDP Tajikistan managed a series of capacity building projects to build search and rescue (SAR) capacities. UNDP and the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) constructed a SAR training field and other training facilities in Dushanbe to enhance the practical training for rescuers.

Expected Outcome

A training program administered by MSB provided theoretical and practical training according to International Search and Rescue Advisory Group requirements.

Expected Outputs

• Management of disaster-related information greatly improved by establishing the Information Management and Analytical Centre (of the Committee of Emergency Situations and Civil Defense)
• Search and Rescue training facilities were built
• 79 rescuers were trained in Urban Search and Rescue
