Strengthening Early Recovery Capacities in Tajikistan

Summary

The main objective of this project is to contribute to addressing the underlying causes and mitigating the negative effects of the current compound (i.e. water, energy, food insecurity and disaster risk) crisis affecting Tajikistan. It will do this by strengthening the capacity of the Government of Tajikistan, UNDP, and coordination structures to effectively engage in early recovery, planning, and implementation in order to fill the current gap between humanitarian response and long-term recovery and development and break the cycle of recurrent crises and response.

  • Rural communities, including the most marginalized, have greater access to rural finance, infrastructure and employment

  • Natural resources sustainably managed and fewer people killed or affected by disasters
  • Increased agricultural productivity, food security and economic opportunities, especially for women and vulnerable groups
  • Increased responsiveness and accountability of decision-making structures strengthens the rule of law and human rights

  • Natural resources sustainably managed and fewer people killed, injured, made homeless or affected by disasters
