Regional Power Transmission Project

Summary

The project includes

  • construction of approximately 70 kilometers (km), 220-kilovolt (kV) Kairakum Asht transmission line, rehabilitation of Kairakum 220 kV substation, and construction of additional one new bay in Asht 220 kV substation;
  • construction of approximately 69 km 220 kV Geran-Rumi transmission line, rehabilitation of 220 kV Rumi substation, and rehabilitation and expansion of 220 kV Geran substation;
  • rehabilitation of Regar 500 kV and Baipaza 220 kV substations;
  • installation of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System at the national control center and 32 key substations;
  • support for project implementation, including supervision, procurement, project monitoring and evaluation; and
  • power sector operational performance improvement program.

Expected Outcome

The project will help Tajikistan achieve energy security and provide adequate and reliable power supply to domestic household, commercial, and industrial sectors.

Expected Outputs

  • New 220kV Kairakum-Asht transmission line constructed, Kairakum 220kV substation rehabilitated, and a new bay in Asht 220kV substation constructed.
  • New 220kV Geran-Rumi transmission line constructed, 220 kV Rumi substation rehabilitated, and 220 kV Geran substation rehabilitated and expanded.
  • Rehabilitated Regar 500kV and Baipaza 220 kV substations.
  • Installed SCADA System at the national control center and 32 key substations.
  • Improved capacity for project implementation, including supervision, procurement, project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Developed power sector operational performance improvement program.
