Regional Cooperation on Renewable Energy Integration to the Grid

Summary

The proposed knowledge and support technical assistance will support Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan increase intermittent renewable energy generation (solar and wind power generation) by providing training to transmission grid operators on modernized control techniques to address renewable energy intermittency, and by analyzing regional cooperation arrangement options

Expected Outcome

The pr0ject will enhance CAREC countries' transmission capacities for renewable energy.

• Regional cooperation framework to share balancing capacity reserve designed.
