Development of Regional Cooperation Programs for Mongolia and the People's Republic of China

Summary

The technical assistance (TA), designed in response to the request by the Governments of Mongolia and the People's Republic of China, focused on supporting cooperation between Mongolia and the PRC’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region (IMAR) and northeastern provinces.

Expected Outcome

The outcome of the TA is to put into operation a number of regional cooperation programs for which ADB could provide unique value added.

Expected Outputs

The expected outputs include (i) recommendations for enhancing transport cooperation and improving integration of the transport networks of the two countries, particularly with a view to improving Mongolia’s access to sea ports; (ii) improved policy environment for energy cooperation; (iii) enhanced customs cooperation between the two countries; and (iv) better coordination in development of key border towns.
