Constituting Virtual Meeting of the CAREC Working Group on Climate Change
CAREC member countries and development partners met virtually on 26 April 2024 to discuss how to implement the Regional Action on Climate Change: a Vision for CAREC. The Working Group endorsed its terms of reference and agreed on the agenda for its first physical meeting on 29 May in Astana, Kazakhstan. The priority of the working group is to (i) coordinate and accelerate regional climate action in the CAREC region, (ii) share best practices and identify priority sectors for climate change adaptation and mitigation, (iii) mobilize climate finance, and (iv) promote One CAREC voice on climate change agenda at global and regional forums such as COP29 in November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan. CWRC’s Lyaziza Sabyrova delivered opening remarks, and emphasized the importance of the working group for advancing regional climate action.
