Second CAREC Regional Trade Group Meeting
The second CAREC Regional Trade Group (RTG) meeting reviewed the CAREC Integrated Trade Agenda 2030‘s implementation since its endorsement in 2018. The RTG agreed on the Rolling Strategic Action Plan 2019–2021 activities to expand and diversify trade, and strengthen trade institutions.
The RTG noted the progress of sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures work and discussed collaboration with the CAREC Customs Cooperation Committee.
M. Teresa Kho, deputy director general, East Asia Department, Asian Development Bank co-chaired the meeting and delivered opening remarks along with Khurshid Rakhmanov, deputy head, Department of Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation Measures of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.
The meeting was attended by appointed representatives of CAREC member countries to the RTG and representatives from CAREC national working groups on SPS measures and trade-related agencies and development partners, including the World Trade Organization; International Monetary Fund; United Nations Commission on International Trade Law; World Organization for Animal Health; United States Agency for International Development-Competitiveness, Trade and Jobs Project; CAREC Institute; United Nations Development Programme Aid for Trade Project and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
