E-Commerce Development in CAREC Countries: Assessment and the Way Forward

Chaired by Fariz Guliyev from Azerbaijan Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, the webinar presented the highlights of two studies jointly conducted by the Asian Development Bank and the CAREC Institute on e-commerce development in CAREC countries. The studies assessed the regulatory and legal environment and digital infrastructure gaps in the region. Country experiences from Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and Pakistan were presented and experts from the ADB, International Chamber of Commerce, and CAREC Institute joined the panel discussions. East Asia Department Advisor Safdar Parvez delivered the opening remarks, citing how COVID-19 has spurred far greater levels of e-commerce and outlined the far-reaching benefits that digitized trade can bring.
