CAREC organized a virtual high-level panel to discuss financial stability implications and regional cooperation amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

The theme of this year’s ministerial conference is "People-Centered Regional Cooperation in the Post-COVID Environment."

Representatives from multilateral and bilateral development partners joined the first CAREC Development Partners’ Forum and explored ways to further expand their engagement with the program.

Senior officials from 11 CAREC countries discussed overall implementation progress of the CAREC 2030 Strategy, as well as the draft CAREC Program Results Framework, Tourism Strategy 2030, and Gender Strategy 2030.

Ministers and senior government officials of CAREC countries joined a high-level session at the 53rd Annual General Meeting to discuss the potential role of regional cooperation platforms such as CAREC in building countries’ resilience to future crisis after COVID-19.

The Third CAREC Regional Trade Group meeting discussed the implementation of the CAREC Integrated Trade Agenda 2030.

The workshop deliberated on the road map and implementation plans for the economic corridor development among Shymkent (Kazakhstan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), and Khujand (Tajikistan) cities, and their surrounding oblasts (STKEC).

This publication presents data analysis of data on the efficiency of the six CAREC transport corridors as part of the 2019 Corridor Performance Measurement and Monitoring (CPMM).

CAREC national focal points (NFPs) held a virtual meeting to discuss the economic impact of and response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the region.

The CAREC Transport Strategy 2030 builds on progress made and lessons learned from the CAREC Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy 2020.

The report recommends strategies to promote diversification and harmonization of cross-border customs and logistics procedures to revitalize agriculture in the CAREC region.

Railway specialists reported on progress made in TA implementation, including the findings of rail sector assessments, updates on the traffic modelling, and rail project preparation facility.

Participants deliberated on key challenges and opportunities on promoting sustainable tourism development in the region and initiated discussions for the formulation of the CAREC Tourism Strategy 2030.

CAREC national focal points and development partners met to deliberate on the final draft of the CAREC Transport Strategy 2030 and CAREC Energy Strategy 2030, with an aim of endorsement at the 18th CAREC Ministerial Conference in November.

ADB and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan organized the first CAREC Capital Market Regulators Forum in Islamabad, Pakistan to discuss access to finance reforms and private sector development through strengthened regional cooperation and integration of capital markets.

From a modest start in 2001, the number and value of CAREC projects—including loans and grants—have grown rapidly to 193 projects worth more than $32.9 billion, as of September 2018.

This year's ministerial conference focused on expanding regional trade and promoting economic diversification. CAREC ministers unanimously endorsed the CAREC Integrated Trade Agenda 2030 and its Rolling Strategic Action Plan 2018–2030.

Tourism officials from the 11 CAREC member countries, private sector representatives, and tour operators met to deliberate on key challenges and opportunities for regional initiatives, and collaborative actions to promote tourism development in the region.

Customs representatives from each CAREC country provided updates on the Customs Cooperation Committee priority areas as well as ongoing customs-related initiatives at the national level.

The workshop gathered experts from development partners to discuss the continuing improvement of the CAREC Corridors Performance Measurement and Monitoring (CPMM) and promote the broader use of CPMM data in CAREC countries.

Senior government officials of the 11 CAREC countries and representatives of multilateral development partners reviewed the progress made to date on the implementation of the CAREC 2030 strategy.

The CAREC team presented the project findings with proposed policy toolkits and specific recommendations to improve the performance of Kyrgyz Republic's free economic zones and industrial parks, as well as international best practice and other country cases.
