Western Regional Road Corridor Development Program, Tranche 2

Summary

The program supports the development of a transport corridor that links Mongolia to the Russian Federation in the north and People's Republic of China in the south. Tranche 2 of the program includes 103.9 kilometers of paved road between Khovd and Khashaatin Davaa pass, two bridges and urban roads in Khovd, a road maintenance center, and capacity development.

Expected Outcome

The project will improve transport accessibility within the project area and between countries.  

Expected Outputs

The outputs include

  • 189.7 kilometers (km) of paved road constructed between Khovd and Ulaanbaishint;
  • three bridges (0.49 km) and 14.9 km of urban roads rehabilitated in the towns of Khovd and Ulgii;
  • two road maintenance units established and equipped with staff trained; and
  • project management, consulting services and capacity development for maintenance planning, civil works, and procurement.
