Silk Road Ecosystem Restoration Project

Summary

The technical assistance (TA) will help the Government of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in preparing an investment proposal for improving the environment of degraded or at-risk ecological areas along the Silk Road route in Gansu and Shaanxi Provinces and in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Expected Outcome

The outcome of the TA will be a project design for a loan, which responds to clients' needs and fulfills Asian Development Bank's requirements and safeguard policies. The outcome of the project will be increased productivity and reduced vulnerability of forest lands in the three provinces through appropriate and sustainable land use.

Expected Outputs

The TA will assist the Government of PRC in preparing an investment project based on initial proposals to address the technical, financial, and institutional barriers. The project is expected to improve sustainable use of natural resources and restoration of the ecology and biodiversity in the project area.
