Preparing the CAREC Corridors 1, 2 and 6 Connector Road (Kyzylorda-Zhezkazgan) Reconstruction Project (formerly Preparing Road Sector Projects)
Preparing the CAREC Corridors 3 and 6 Turkistan Road Network Improvement Project The technical assistance (TA) will support phase 1 of preparatory activities to help scope and structure the proposed Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Corridors 3 and 6 Turkistan Road Network Improvement Project.
CAREC Corridors 1 and 6 Connector Road (Aktobe–Kandyagash) Reconstruction Project The proposed project will (i) reconstruct the 89-kilometer highway connecting Aktobe and Kandyagash and (ii) strengthen the institutional capacity of KazAvtoZhol. The project is aligned with the following impact: More jobs created and Kazakhstan integrated into the regional and global economic system (Kazakhstan 2050 Strategy).
CAREC Corridors 1 and 6 Connector Road (Aktobe–Makat) Reconstruction Project The Asian Development Bank is working with Kazakhstan to help modernize ithe country's transport system. Improved transport connectivity will help increase trade links between Kazakhstan and the markets in East Asia, the Caspian Sea region, and further to Europe.
CAREC Corridors 1 and 6 Connector Road (Aktobe–Makat) Improvement Project The proposed project will reconstruct about 300 kilometers road section between the capitals and administration centers of Aktobe and Artyrau Provinces in western Kazakhstan.
Olzha Phase III Loan The project extends a secured loan to JSC Olzha, a private operator of freight wagons in Kazakhstan, to acquire new freight railcars.
Astana Airport Rehabilitation The project will finance the rehabilitation of the runway, taxiways, and apron, and upgrade of lighting navigational aids at Astana Airport as part of the airport modernization project.
Olzha Loan Extension The project extends a secured loan to JSC Olzha, a private operator of freight wagons in Kazakhstan, to acquire new freight railcars and one shunting locomotive.
Energy Efficiency Project The project consists of two components: investment and technical assistance. The first part will finance eligible subprojects to support a reduction in energy use of public buildings such as schools, kindergartens, clinics/hospitals, and street lighting. The second part concerns technical assistance to help ensure effective project implementation.
CAREC Corridor 2 (Mangystau Oblast Section) Investment Program, Tranche 2 The second project of the investment program will reconstruct an 86.7-kilometer (km) road section between the cities of Shetpe and Zhetybay, and an 83-km section between Zhetybay and the provincial capital, Aktau.
CAREC Corridor 3 (Shymkent–Tashkent Section) Road Improvement Project The project will rehabilitate a 37 kilometer four-lane road section in Kazakhstan, a part of the road connecting Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, and Shymkent, one of the major industrial cities in Kazakhstan.
Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction in South–East and East Kazakhstan The project will link the initiatives of local communities to those of national disaster management authorities, allowing the national authorities to realize the strengths of local communities in disaster risk reduction (DRR).
