Virtual Regional Workshop on TIR Digitalization for Improved Trade in STKEC Region
On 7 September, a regional workshop on Internationaux Routiers Carnet (TIR) Digitalization for Improved Trade in Shymkent-Tashkent-Khujand Economic Corridor (STKEC) region was co-organized virtually by ADB and International Road Transport Union. Kyrgyz Republic participated as an observer. More than 60 participants including senior officials from government agencies, private sector, TIR associations and digital TIR users in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, and representatives from development partners attended the event and shared experience on progress, opportunities and challenges in TIR digitalization for improved trade in the region. CWRC Director Safdar Parvez and IRU TIR and Transit Director Tatiana Rey-Bellet co-chaired the workshop and highlighted the importance of mainstreaming digital TIR in the STKEC region for keeping trade flowing while mitigating the impact from the COVID-19 pandemic.
