CAREC senior officials endorsed the key deliverables for consideration in the 15th CAREC Ministerial Conference.
The initiatives include the CAREC Railway Strategy, Road Safety Strategy (2017-2030), Midterm Review of CAREC 2020, and Investment Framework for Almaty-Bishkek Economic Corridor.
Anjum Assad Amin, CAREC National Focal Point for Pakistan, chaired the meeting, assisted by Asian Development Bank (ADB) East Asia Department Director General Ayumi Konishi and ADB Central West Asia Department Director General Sean O' Sullivan.
The meeting also discussed updates and key deliverables in the four priority sectors of CAREC: transport, energy, trade facilitation, and trade policy.
In its report to the CAREC ministers, the SOM also noted that member countries have finalized the Intergovernmental Agreement establishing the CAREC Institute.
The SOM also welcomed Georgia as the 11th CAREC member country, following the participation of its officials in this year's CAREC events as observers.
