CAREC is a practical, project-based program that has grown from 6 projects worth $247 million in 2001, to 166 projects worth around $27.7 billion in 2015.
Projects in the People's Republic of China
As of 2015, CAREC has mobilized more than $1.57 billion for five projects in the PRC. The projects are improving transport and trade, policies and infrastructure. These also promote connectivity between CAREC countries and global markets while harnessing the region’s natural and human resources.
