Corridor Performance Measurement and Monitoring (CPMM) International Workshop: CAREC Experience and International Prospects
Almaty, Kazakhstan: 1 March 2013
Workshop participants reviewed and shared the experience in conducting CPMM under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program since 2009. They discussed how to maximize use of the CPMM data in increasing efforts to facilitate trade, and how to introduce CPMM in other subregions.
The CAREC Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy mandates that the performance of six priority CAREC corridors be measured and monitored. Using CPMM, sources of excessive cost and delay encountered by goods in transit are identified, and courses of action to eliminate these impediments are determined. CPMM serves as a useful guide for decision makers in policy formulation, investment decisions, and process improvements.
The workshop was conducted by the Asian Development Bank's CAREC Trade Facilitation team, together with CAREC Institute.
