Summary:The loan will help in the rehabilitation of the Ossakarovka electricity transmission line to contribute to the overall system reliability and support development of the Akmola region, enabling electricity supply from Central Kazakhstan to Astana city and Akmola oblast (region).
Expected Outcome:The project will enable KEGOC to support its vital capital expenditures program aimed at modernizing its high-voltage transmission network to high international standards. This will help to support economic growth of the Kazakh economy and ensure efficient use of resources.
Expected Outputs:
  • Rehabilitation of the Ossakarovka electricity transmission line to contribute to the overall system reliability and support development of the Akmola region, enabling electricity supply from Central Kazakhstan to the Astana city and Akmola oblast (region); and
  • refinancing of KEGOC debt including two loans from EBRD to optimize KEGOC's cashflows and balance sheet and prepare the company for a new role as a single buyer (capacity market operator) in the context of the Kazakh power sector reform.
