Summary:

The supplementary grant supports the second project of Afghanistan's Road Network Development Investment Program. It is sourced from Afghanistan Infrastructure Trust Fund which is being administered by the Asian Development Bank.

The project comprises

  • rehabilitation of the 90 kilometers (km) Qaisar-Bala Murghab section of Herat-Andkhoy road, and
  • construction of the approximately 143 km Bala Murghab-Laman section.
Expected Outcome:The investment program will increase Afghanistan's road network connectivity and quality by promoting and providing financing for the road improvement and institutions development component of the Afghanistan National Development Strategy.
Expected Outputs:
  • Rehabilitated 90 km Qaisar-Bala Murghab section of Herat-Andkhoy road and
  • new 143 km Bala Murghab-Laman section.
