North-South Railway Project

Summary:The project includes
  • installation of signaling and telecommunication facilities for the
    311 kilometers (km) of the project between Bereket and Buzhun;
  • procurement of equipment for maintenance and other facilities for asset management;
  • institutional capacity building of the Ministry of Railway Transportation; and
  • consulting services for project design, management, and construction supervision.
Expected Outcome:The project will increase regional trade by improving Turkmenistan's accessibility to Kazakhstan, the Persian Gulf countries, the Russian Federation, and South Asia, through better connectivity with neighboring countries.
Expected Outputs:
  • 311 km of installed power, signaling, and telecommunication systems;
  • procured equipment for track maintenance and safety; and
  • improved institutional capacity of the Ministry of Railway Transport; and
  • improved project management support and construction supervision.
