Summary:The subproject of the Energy Sector Development Investment Program's Project 1 involves
  • selection and design of mini hydropower plants, which include a desk study, site visits, preliminary design and site selection, and detailed design and procurement;
  • implementation, which is to construct up to four mini hydropower plants, and project management; and
  • capacity building and support community-based organizations.
Expected Outcome:The subproject will improve the quality of rural life in Badakhshan and Bamyan provinces by providing electricity services from mini hydropower plants with generating capacity below 1,000 kilowatts.
Expected Outputs:
  • Sites selected and mini hydropower plants designed,
  • mini hydropower plants constructed and project successfully managed, and
  • capacity building developed and community-based organizations supported.
