CAREC member countries: Understanding the Revised Kyoto Convention
A workshop on the Revised Kyoto Convention will be conducted for the 10 member countries of the CAREC Program on 27-28 February 2013. The Asian Development Bank and the World Customs Organization will co-organize this event. Read more.
Promoting efficient cross-border transport in Kazakhstan
CAREC Institute, in partnership with UNESCAP and the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan, will hold a workshop to promote efficient cross-border transport among national government officials along the CAREC Corridors. The workshop will be on 28 February 2013. Read more.
Monitoring CAREC corridors performance
A workshop on CAREC's experience in implementing the Corridor Performance Measurement and Monitoring (CPMM) Project will be held on 1 March 2013. The workshop will review the CPMM and discuss how to maximize use of data to facilitate trade. Read more.
Transmission project to secure power supply in Fergana Valley
The Namangan Power Transmission Project will improve power supply reliability in Fergana Valley, Uzbekistan. New high-voltage transmission lines will be constructed to expand transmission capacity. Read more.
Turkmenistan prepares to join the World Trade Organization
The Republic of Turkmenistan has expressed its intention to join the World Trade Organization, and the government has set up a commission to study issues associated with entry to the global body. Read more.


CAREC Corridor 3 to receive $125 million ADB loan
The Asian Development Bank approved a $125 million loan to fund rehabilitation of a 37-kilometer road section of CAREC Corridor 3 in Kazakhstan. The road will connect Shymkent, a major industrial city in Kazakhstan, and Tashkent, Uzbekistan's capital city. Read more.

Kazakhstan, World Bank sign CAREC 1b road loan agreement
The Republic of Kazakhstan and the World Bank signed a $1.06 billion loan agreement on the East-West Roads Project in October 2012. An upgraded road will accelerate trade flows between Kazakhstan and the People's Republic of China. Read more.

CAREC transport and trade facilitation strategy to undergo midterm review
The Asian Development Bank approved a technical assistance grant to conduct a midterm review of the CAREC Transport and Trade Facilitation Strategy. Read more.

ENERGY: Namangan 500-Kilovolt Power Transmission Project (Uzbekistan / ADB)
